Student Leadership Council (SLC)
The Student Leadership Council (SLC) is a cross between a student government, an academic support group and a social club. The SLC is here to help you make the most of your experience at UWEB!
What does the SLC do?
- acts as a liaison between the student body and the administration
- coordinates opportunities for the student body to interact with corporate sponsor representatives
- organizes outreach activities
- hosts workshops and forums to aid in career development
- conducts a SWOT analysis (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats) to assess the student satisfaction with UWEB
- interacts with SLCs from other ERCs, exchanging ideas to enhance educational and professional development of ERC students
- organizes social activities
- anything else that may bolster the educational experience, professional development, and camaraderie of the student body
Who is in the SLC?
The SLC is composed of and welcomes all fellow graduate students who volunteer to oversee certain SLC functions. At UWEB, the SLC is comprised of a a president, industry representative, education & outreach coordinator, summer REU coordinator, and social events coordinator. The SLC works as a TEAM, but each member oversees certain areas.
President
- acts as liaison to UWEB administration
- is point of contact for site visits and symposiums
- moderates meetings, workshops, and forums
- oversees and presents the SWOT analysis
- owns student website content
Industry Representative
- acts as student/industry liaison
- develops and executes student/industry events
Education & Outreach Coordinator
- acts as student/educator liaison
- helps organize outreach activities and recruit volunteers
- helps develop new outreach presentations/projects
- acts as liaison between SLC and Education Committee
- attends Education Committee meetings
Summer REU Coordinator
- acts as UWEB/REU student liaison
- participates in REU undergraduate selection
- is Education & Outreach director's SLC contact for all REU issues
Social Events Coordinator
- is responsible for planning a minimum of 2 social events annually
